Female Body Builders

The female bodybuilder is somewhat mysterious to many people in the world. During the 1980’s you began to see a lot of women that became interested in strength training, and you began to see muscle and fitness competitions, where these women competed as weight lifters, and fitness professionals. Though some people feel that being a bodybuilder as a female is not a feminine thing, there are many people that will disagree. In fact, there are quite a few people that find women like this very attractive and interesting. When they see a female body builder, they have great respect for the hard work and dedication it took for the woman to get into the physical state that she is in.

Though female bodybuilding is not always something that makes its way into pop culture, the idea of women doing moderate strength training, has never fallen off. Though many women do not go for the completely large and muscular look, most women that exercise are no longer afraid to develop defined muscles in their arms and legs. In addition, society usually finds this ‘fit’ look attractive as well. If it had not been for the principle set by the first female bodybuilders, this trend might never have caught on. In addition, doctors and scientists have also found that working out with weights, helps women boost their metabolism, increase bone density, and attain mental and emotional well-being, not to mention the increased calorie burning brought on by strength training.  (Talk about figuring out how to lose weight fast naturally!)

There is one negative idea that surrounds female bodybuilding, however. Many people feel that women cannot possibly grow to be as big as many of them have without the use of bodily enhancing drugs. Though most female bodybuilders deny using these drugs, some have admitted to taking the shortcut. Unfortunately the price that women pay for taking that short cut is very big. Steroids, and other performance enhancing drugs, alter the hormonal system of the body a lot. In addition they cause other problems like hair falling, rage issues, and skin problems.

So, what’s the takeaway from this article?  Female bodybuilders are real people with the determination and discipline needed to put in countless hours in the gym to get the strength and the look they want.  Do we always understand the whys and hows?  No.  But, interesting to the rest of us?  Definitely.
