Many people today are more concerned about external beauty than internal qualities. With this fact in mind, many males and females are doing everything possible to make the muscles in their abdominal regions “stick out”, as to leave a lasting impression on other people.
The abdominals (“abs”) are a patch of muscles located from the ribcage area to the pelvic area. Aside from looking good on people, these muscles actually have some functions: holding organs in place, providing movement, and giving support. The names of the four abs that people actually work to get a six-pack include: the rectus abdominal muscle, the transverse abdominal muscle, the external oblique muscles, and the internal oblique muscles. Thus, abs are a central part of many individuals’ obsessions and compulsions in countries that favor external features.
How do you get flab abs, then? Below are three tips to help in getting the elusive six-pack flat abs.
1) Exercise: Individuals must do correct exercises or their entire goal can be blind-sided. Do the following types of exercises: weight training/circuit training at least twice a week, but never do it on back-to-back days. Also, make sure the weight training exercises work your lower stomach areas. Some other exercises include: bicycle crunches, sit-ups, and normal crunches. Cardiovascular exercise (e.g., jogging or cycling) for at least thirty minutes three times a week is a must also.
2) Diet: Protein is essential to building muscle; thus, eat lean types of meats, such as chicken, egg whites, fish, and turkey. Eat healthy foods, too, like grains, fruits, and vegetables; do not avoid all fats, though- our bodies need fat to make muscle! Also, try to get your total body fat percentage below 10%, or else abs may not even be noticeable. To lose that excess body weight, reduce total calorie intake and do more cardio.
3) Stay enthused at all times! Often times, people start their trek to getting abs, but give up. If you keep at it, you will eventually reach your goal.
